Awarded Best STM Information Product in 2005 by the International Information Industry, Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature and quality Web sources with smart tools to improve research productivity and effectiveness. Ground breaking since its inception, Scopus empowers users -and it continues to evolve and adapt to users’ needs.
“Isn’t it time you took a fresh look at Scopus?”
Scopus covers more content sources than any other single database.
Launched in 2004, more than 800 institutions worldwide have now licensed Scopus including academic institutions, government agencies, hospitals, medical schools and corporations. Citing innovative technologies and the increasing coverage of high quality content as their prime motivation for selection, Scopus now offers the following:
15,000 peer-reviewed journals from more than 4,000 international publishers 30 million records, of which:
- 15 million records include references going back to 1996
- 15 million pre-1996 records go back as far as 1900
- 275 million scientific Web pages
- 21 million patents from 5 patent offices
- Content updated daily
Recently, Scopus forged an agreement with publishers and societies including Springer, the Nature Publishing Group, the American Physical Society, and the American Institute of Physics to add more abstracts dating back to volume 1, issue 1. All in all an estimated 7 million new records will be available to all existing customers on a continuous basis as they are loaded into Scopus starting in 2007.
And just announced. 800 new titles recommended by users, including more than 200 Social Sciences titles have been approved by the Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board [CSAB] to expand the database.

.Scopus Author Identifier enables author disambiguation thus aiding literature research. Pinpoint your author by adding affiliation information.
PatentCites allows users to track how primary research is practically applied in patents. WebCites is the first step towards enabling Scopus users to track the influence of peer-reviewed research on Web literature.
